Gentleman Jack fans are set for disappointment as the HBO and BBC co-production starring Suranne Jones has been cancelled.
HBO has announced that it will not being renewing the show for a third season, just over a month after season two finished airing.
Deadline, who first reported the news, added that the show's second season was among HBO's lower rated original series.

In a statement to Deadline the network said: "HBO will not be moving forward with a third season of Gentleman Jack.
"When we began this journey more than five years ago, we knew the series' creator Sally Wainwright had a uniquely compelling vision, and it's been tremendously gratifying to see how Anne Lister's journey has resonated with viewers.

The news will be a huge blow to fans of the show, many of who tweeted #RenewGentlemanJack following the airing of its season two finale in the UK.

Season two of the drama saw Anne negotiating her new married life with Ann Walker (Sophie Rundle) despite gay marriage not being accepted at the time, with the couple setting up home together at Shibden Hall.
Showrunner Sally Wainwright previously discussed how season two of Gentleman Jack was a lot more historically accurate than the first.
"I did make stuff up in the first series," Sally said earlier this year. "Half the time, in the second series, I found there wasn't enough room to make things up because the diary is so Anne-centric.
"I've seen that episode [episode one] about five million times but it's just struck me seeing it now, you're never off the screen are you? You just drive the whole thing in a way that's an accurate reflection of the diaries, that it's inevitably Anne-centric because it's her diary."
Gentleman Jack airs on BBC One in the UK, and US viewers can tune in via HBO Max.
