This Morning's Phillip Schofield has provided viewers with an update on Holly Willoughby, after the host lost yet another taping because of Covid.

Willoughby has been in self-isolation for eight days now – having first tested positive on March 13 – and it seems like that's where she will be staying for the time being, as her tests have continued to come back positive.

On the morning show's latest episode on Monday (March 21), Schofield, who had been joined by Josie Gibson in Holly's absence, informed viewers that the co-host was doing well.

In fact, she seemed more annoyed by the predicament than anything else.

As the show began, he said: "Welcome to your Monday this morning, Josie is back! I’ve been texting Holly all through the weekend and she’s absolutely fine.

"She just has that incredibly persistent and annoying red line that won’t go away. So she’ll be sitting at home – it’s driving her crazy."

The presenter had also had to give up her gig as host of Dancing On Ice last week and had been replaced by Gibson and another This Morning presenter, Alison Hammond.

Last Tuesday (March 15), Schofield had also taken the time during the show to wish his co-host a "get well soon" and give fans an update.

"Holly’s obviously still got 'rona," he said at the time. "So sending her massive love and sort of texting throughout the day and checking up she’s okay. She’s fine, just annoyed, so lots of love, get well soon."

However, Willoughby has at least made sure to take advantage of her time away from work.

During the weekend, she shared a photo with her 7.7 million followers on Instagram of her basking in the sunshine, writing: "Just what the doctor ordered."

She's not the first member of the This Morning crew to have had her plans hindered by Covid, though.

Schofield himself tested positive back in January and had to miss the taping of the ITV morning show as well as Dancing On Ice. He was replaced by Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway star Stephen Mulhern.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
