Vikings: Valhalla spoilers follow.

The first season of Vikings: Valhalla has been out for less than a week but fans are already looking forward to what will happen in season two.

In particular, the burning question on everyone's mind is what will happen between Harald and Freydís after the finale showed Freydís coming back to save him.

What to Read Next

Leo Suter, who plays Harald, has teased a potential romance between the two characters in upcoming episodes.

He said: "These are two people who are... they have a lot to talk about and they work so well together. But at the same time, there are big forces and big passions that are pulling them apart, and as with any sort of love story, there's... it's so simple in some respects, but also so complicated in other ways."

"So season two will be a journey for them and we'll get to see these two headstrong characters with strong beliefs and principles figure out what the world holds for them," Suter continued.

After the events of the finale, they rode off into the sunset, leaving the burning Kattegat behind them as the battle was lost. Will they be riding off into their future as companions and lovers?

Suter says yes, but fans will simply have to wait and see what the show runners want to do with these fearsome characters.

Though another season hasn't technically yet been green lit, the show has already been commissioned for 24 episodes, according to creator Jeb Stuart, but as only eight were released for the first season, there are high hopes.

Show bosses have already teased plans for future seasons, and said that they were prepping for season three – if there are eight episodes per series, then the 24 commissioned episodes would cover all three seasons of the show so fans will be getting much more Valhalla content in the future.

The question, of course, is when, but sadly no future release dates have been designated... yet.

Vikings seasons 1-6 are streaming via Amazon Prime Video.
