Blackadder writer Ben Elton has explained why a revival of the popular sitcom is not likely to happen.
Written by Elton and Love Actually's Richard Curtis, the historical comedy series starred Rowan Atkinson as a member of a family dynasty across four significant time periods in British history.
But as much as the cult show continues to entertain fans old and new, Elton has revealed that a revival will never happen.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: "Every time Tony [Robinson] does an interview he says, 'Oh, I think there might be another,' but don't listen to Baldrick on this one, you need to hear it from me or Richard as we write it.
"There is never going to be another – I can tell you that now. It's just best to remember Blackadder as it was."

He continued: "Blackadder wasn't easy – it wasn't a particularly happy experience for everyone. It was very tense, lots of egos, lots of frustrations, but through it all everyone remained friendly and deeply respectful. But it was edgy."

"Richard went in all the time and it was very hard for him but I was like, 'F**k 'em, if they're going to spend three hours discussing whether vole or gerbil is a funnier word, when Richard and I had written vole because we know it's a funnier word, and they'll come back with vole at the end – then I don't want to sit through that debate.'"
Robinson himself has recently shut down rumours about the potential reboot of the sitcom.
A fan on Twitter said that he was "very excited" for a Blackadder return, as well as for Robinson's football team Bristol City signing Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas.
The actor responded: "One of these rumours is probably true, the other isn't!!"
And given Kalas now plays for Bristol City, you can figure the rest out for yourself...
