Note: This article contains spoilers for tonight's (January 17) episode of Death in Paradise, which aired on BBC One.
Now that Death in Paradise has explained to us just what, exactly, Officer Dwayne Myers is up to after Danny John-Jules decided to exit the show, the time has come to introduce a new arrival to the Saint Marie police force.
This week's episode of the BBC One drama saw DI Jack Mooney investigating the mystery of who killed zoo owner Xander Shepherd, but before we get into that, first let's meet Dwayne's replacement.
Officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos) joined the team on her first murder investigation tonight (January 17) and while Mooney, JP and Florence were on edge considering Ruby also happens to be the Commissioner's niece and will be reporting back to him, most viewers were much happier to have her on board:
Although there are still a few people who aren't quite over Dwayne's departure just yet:
But we think JP summed it up best when he called Ruby "extra" – something we never thought we'd hear him say.

Meanwhile, back to the murder, and with Xander (Jonathan Kerrigan) having been found dead in the middle of the zoo's grounds when the park was shut to the public, the suspicion fell on the zoo's employees – who happened to consist of some very familiar faces.
Among this week's guest stars included Call the Midwife actress Charlotte Ritchie, The Inbetweeners' resident goofball Blake Harrison, and former Robin Hood Jonas Armstrong, and yes, that does make it one of the best cast lists ever:
After following a few unsuccessful leads, uncovering an affair between Xander's wife Marina (Shelley Conn) and his brother Dylan (Armstrong) and Ruby accidentally shooting JP with a tranquilliser gun before making her first arrest, Jack finally figured out who the murderer was.
And it seemed it was none other than Theo (Harrison) who killed Xander, taking his revenge for a tragic incident that saw his brother killed in a prank gone wrong years ago.
Which obviously led to lots of Inbetweeners jokes:
Death in Paradise continues next Thursday (January 24) at 9pm on BBC One.
