Though it still looks as though Shadowhunters will draw to a close next year after 12 concluding episodes, fans aren't giving up in their campaign to save the series.
From social media campaigns to flying a plane (with a #SaveShadowhunters banner) over Netflix HQ to taking out a billboard ad in Times Square, fan efforts to secure a fourth season have been startling.
And it's not just us feeling that way. Speaking to Digital Spy, Shadowhunters actor Will Tudor – who appeared in the dual role of Sebastian Verlac / Jonathan Morgenstern from 2017 to 2018 – hailed the campaigning as "extraordinary".
"They had signs in Times Square, and they had it on a plane… that just shows the dedication of the fandom," Tudor enthused.
"And bless them, they’ve been so welcoming to me. I came in for season two, and they were just brilliant. I was very fortunate, because I had quite a fan favourite character [to play] as well."
As for why Shadowhunters inspires such dedication in its fans, Tudor suggested: "I think not only does it appeal to the vampire/werewolf crowd, it’s also much more human than a lot of those [types of] shows.

"The relationships are different to what you’d see in other shows. It’s not afraid to go somewhere quite dark, but also to go somewhere that resonates with what’s going on in the world at the moment, a lot more than other shows might do.
"It’s not predictable, I think, and that was what really struck me when I started to watch it, when I got the audition for it. I was surprised with where it went."
Shadowhunters star Katherine McNamara has described the show's final scene as "perfectly bittersweet".
"Anything's possible [when it comes to a revival], and if nothing else, the ending of the show is kickass," she said.
The second half of Shadowhunters' third season premieres on February 25, 2019 on Freeform in the US. The series streams on Netflix in the UK.
Will Tudor stars in Torvill & Dean, airing Christmas Day at 9.15pm on ITV.
