Peter Kay's Car Share fans finally got what they'd been wishing for when the sitcom ended in May this year, as supermarket workers John Redmond (Kay) and Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) officially ended up together as a couple.

The show aired over two series and a handful of special episodes, but that just isn't enough for some fans who are keen for more.

And, considering the show was meant to end after the second series but a final episode was later made and broadcast, it's no surprise that fans aren't convinced that the series is officially over.

But actress Sian Gibson may have just dashed our hopes, confirming that there won't be any more episodes – although she didn't sound completely certain.

"No, there really isn’t this time… Oh... no, no there isn’t," she said on Sunday Brunch this morning (December 9).

"No, it was the last one – but I just feel like I'm lying, because I was lying last time when I said it was the last one, so now I just look like a liar. But it was," she added.

Sian was speaking on Sunday Brunch alongside her Death on the Tyne co-star Johnny Vegas to talk about their new murder mystery.

A sequel to their 2017 TV film Murder on the Blackpool Express, the one-off special sees couple Terry (Vegas) and Gemma (Gibson) try to solve another mystery, this time on a ferry to Amsterdam.

"The first one was so successful, and then everyone you've got really friendly with... you've killed them on-screen," Johnny said.

"The new cast come in, and you have this brilliant time with a new cast. But a bit of you feels guilty, like you've moved on."
