It's day two of the Amazon Prime Day sale 2024 and there are still plenty of great deals to be found on all sorts of products, whether that's smartphones like the Google Pixel 8, smart home tech like the new Echo Spot or tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE.
Also included in this year's event are hundreds of discounts on noise-cancelling headphones. One of the best deals I've spotted is on the Sony WF-1000XM5 which also happen to be my favourite Sony earbuds at the moment.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 have dropped to their cheapest price yet for Prime Day, now only £189.99 which is a huge 27% reduction from the launch price of £359. It's worth noting that this deal is exclusive to Prime members.
Why I like the Sony WF-1000XM5
The Sony WF-1000XM5 are the brand's flagship pair of true wireless noise-cancelling earbuds. They're easily some of the best noise-cancelling headphones in the world right now and I would know because I recently had the pleasure of reviewing them.
These tiny rounded earbuds take a different approach to most AirPods alternatives in that they don't feature a stem design. Instead, you twist them into place which means they're a lot more discreet too. You can buy them in two colours: black or silver.
In the box, the earbuds come with four sizes of hybrid foam ear tips which fit comfortably and securely in your ear. I could have them in for around two hours before I started to get tired of wearing them. They feel very well made and they're IPX4 water resistant which means they should survive heavy workouts and sudden rain. Total battery life is 24 hours with the charging case.

But it's the sound quality where these earbuds really excel. Sony manages to deliver people-pleasing sound that is very well balanced across the entire soundstage. It's not too bass-heavy nor does the audio put too much emphasis on the higher frequencies. Whatever music you're into it sounds detailed and accurate.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 also feature solid noise-cancelling, it's not best-in-class but it still does a good job of dulling outside sounds so you can keep your focus on the music.
Other Amazon Prime Day headphones deals
If you're an iPhone user or you prefer an open design as opposed to in-ear buds, you might be better off buying the Apple AirPods (3rd generation). Given the design, you won't get noise cancelling but you will get decent sound with an Adaptive EQ as well as water resistance and 30 hours of listening time with the charging case.
If you're on more of budget, Sony has another Prime Day deal on a top pair of true wireless earbuds — the Sony WF-C700N have had a 29% reduction to only £69.99. These don't have ANC but they are IPX4 water resistant with up to 20 hours of battery from the case.
