The phones thought to be affected by the problem were mainly sold between September 2014 and January 2015.
iPhone 6 Plus owners can check to see if their phone is eligible for the repair by entering their handset's serial code on Apple's website.
If affected, owners then have the option of posting the phone for repair or taking it into an Apple Store.
