While we eagerly await the official release of the LEGO Pokémon Smart Play sets that were unveiled last month, there's actually one way you can play with the brand new models before they officially go on sale.
Legoland Windsor has finalised details of its annual summer festival, which includes a brand new Thrill Zone and Play Zone, the latter where the new Pokémon sets will have a starring role.
The Play Zone is a wannabe Pokémon trainer's paradise, allowing fans to get hands on with a selection of five Pokémon. There will be plenty of opportunities to get building, too, including the chance to create and display a Poké ball, and within the Nurture area lies the chance to play with the Smart tags and bring the characters to life.
The Pokémon Smart Play range consists of 12 new additions to the existing Pokémon collection that launched earlier this year, split between two All-in-One Smart play sets (which come with the interactive Smart Brick) and ten Smart Play Compatible sets (that feature at least one Smart Tag). The Pokémon Smart Play sets follow the release of the Star Wars collection, which was the first in the entire range.
The Lego Festival runs from 20 July to 31 August 2026, which means that for the period of July, visitors to Legoland resorts will be able to go hands on with the new sets before they're dispatched to customers from 1 August.
Along with Legoland Windsor, the Play Zone will feature as part of Lego Festival worldwide, including California, Germany, Florida and New York. Access to the Festival, which houses the Play Zone, is part of the ticket, so there's no extra cost.
