When Sky announced that its new Now TV box will be available from Thursday (August 6), some were disappointed to notice that the device will remain at 720p.

Sky has since clarified to Engadget that the Roku-made box will actually support Full HD 1080p, after all - although Now TV content won't be offered at the higher resolution.

Unfortunately, the company says it has "no immediate plans" to jump to full HD at the moment, but the option is always there in the future.

However, it does mean that all content from other providers such as BBC iPlayer and All 4 will be available in glorious Full HD.

The new set-top box sports an all-black, rounded design and will arrive on the market at £14.99. It will be available at Argos stores from August 7 and through other retailers "in the coming weeks".

Sky claims that the device is around five times faster than its predecessor, thanks to an upgraded processor, and features an improved user interface similar to the Now TV desktop portal.
