Netflix is having a very busy January, but to kick off 2015 the firm has announced a new 'Netflix Recommended TV' badge which will be offered to TV manufacturers that do a particularly good job of handling the service.

The company mentions some of the criteria to get the logo, which include fast app load time and resuming video where you left off. It doesn't say that 4K is a requirement though, leaving the programme open to 1080p sets and devices.

The initial companies that have the honour of using the badge are LG, Sony, Sharp and US brand Vizio.

Both LG and Sony had Netflix on stage at their press conferences to talk about the programme, and there will be more brands announced over the course of the next year.

The programme is US-focused at the moment, but it seems reasonable to assume that the logo will end up being on TVs all over the world eventually. But even if it doesn't, those TVs will obviously benefit from the improved user experience.
