Apple reportedly may launch a new type of iPad - one which runs full-blown OS X - alongside the rumoured iPad Air 2.
Similar to Microsoft's approach with its Surface range of devices, the so-called iPad Pro would run a proper desktop operating system.
Rumours from the supply chain cited by Digitimes point to multiple prototypes for the iPad Pro, some of which are running OS X.
Apple has denied the move towards OS X on tablet multiple times, but the iPhone 6 Plus and Retina Mini iPad were both devices largely denied by Apple up until release.
That means it's entirely possible that a more powerful iPad, running a proper desktop OS, does exist. Details about OS X Yosemite also point to even deeper integration between operating system and device, so this further backs the possibility.
Apple is reportedly planning to announce its next iPads at a press conference on October 16.
