Melanie's departure day arrives and she attends to a full to-do list, leading up to her farewell party. Krista wonders if Vic is on the invitation list. Melanie dodges the question, but it's clear from her reaction that the idea of walking away from Vic is weighing heavily.
The same can be said for Vic, whose enjoyment of a surprise family brunch with Jane, Byron and Nicolette is marred when he realises he's off Mel's party invite list. He nevertheless takes a risk, stopping by to say goodbye and wish Melanie happiness.
Seeing the electric farewell, Jane urges Melanie not to walk away from a chance at happiness. Receiving multiple messages from the universe that she should be brave, Melanie makes a last-minute change of plans, making her first stop post-Ramsay Street Vic's Gippsland pub.

Meanwhile, Krista ensures Yorokobi is reimbursed for the mysterious dine-and-dash party stunt, but it's clear she's battling guilt at not revealing to Leo what she knows about the perpetrator. Sensing something is off, Melanie follows Krista and overhears her on the phone trying to track down 'Sebastian'.
Melanie is instantly disapproving, recalling that Sebastian was responsible for Krista's ejection from her upscale Sydney boarding school, among other wild behaviour. Krista considers Sebastian her oldest friend and feels that while he may be a wild child it's partly her fault for having encouraged him over the years – she thinks the dine-and-dash is simply his misguided way of trying to reconnect with her.
Before she can track him down, Sebastian appears at her apartment, asking if she can take him in for a little while. Melanie advises against it and Krista is torn, but ultimately allows friendship to guide her, telling Sebastian she's always there for him.
Elsewhere, believing herself responsible for Cara's fall, Holly holds an anxious vigil as Cara recovers from emergency surgery. Waiting until Dex and JJ have seen their mum after arriving back from camp, Holly finally confesses her perceived culpability to the family.
Cara is quick to reassure Holly that it was an accident, mostly caused by Cara's own corner cuing. Remi and JJ accept this version of events, but Dex finds it hard to let the matter go so easily. Unconvinced of Holly's innocence, he confronts her at the Kennedy house to say so.
Dex's outburst causes Holly to spiral into panic, prompting Karl to advise her to pull the plug on her planned podcast appearance the next day. But Holly is determined – she wants to talk about what happened, that's the only way she can start to move past all her mistakes.
