Vic has invited Jane to join him in inspecting the Gippsland pub he's thinking of buying. It's a romantic day where the couple soak in the country ambiance, but also share their vision of the future. Vic is disappointed that Jane doesn't share in his excitement of owning a pub, but he's still pleased that she's supporting his decision to put in an offer.
Melanie has decided that she can't watch someone she has feelings for move on, not after Toadie, and so she tells Krista she's going to leave Erinsborough for good. When Jane and Vic run into Melanie and reveal the news of the pub purchase, Melanie is genuinely happy for Vic as he's living his dream.
Jane is thrown, confused as to how Melanie knows about his ambitions. Caught out, Vic and Melanie confess they were matched on a dating app.
What to Read Next
Meanwhile, post-party, Byron, Nicolette, Aaron and Sadie urge Vera to confide what's really going on with her. Shamed, she confesses she had to sell her house because she has a gambling addiction. Taking this on board, a sympathetic Byron is inclined to let her live with them, but Nicolette is less convinced.
When he reveals his guilt regarding Vera missing Mackenzie and Haz's wedding, plus the financial windfall he and Nicolette have just had, he thinks they should do the right thing and let Vera move in. Nicolette relents after Byron guarantees it will be short term. But when Vera shows up with a bunch of cat figurines followed by an announcement of going skinny dipping, the siblings wonder what they've just said yes to.
Elsewhere, Paul, true to his word, has taken Terese's car for repair while also checking the crash site for any part of her taillight left behind. But when he returns to Terese, he finds her stressed as she reveals Vera is on to whoever has been putting their empty wine bottles in her bin. Not to mention that Vic saw her drinking at Boylesque – it's a matter of time before everyone realises she's off the wagon and will therefore connect her to the accident.
Paul buoys her, urging her to focus on the fact that the police are at a dead end. He gently wonders how long she's been drinking and when she tells him a couple of weeks, he realises the timeline fits with when he stopped taking her calls.
Paul's guilt ridden as he urges her to stop drinking, now. Terese promises she will, but when alone she has flashbacks to Harold in hospital and it becomes too much to bear.
