Karl is shocked when Holly reveals she was at the tram with Felix because he was helping her deal with panic attacks, and the shock of her psychological exam report. Realising Holly was struggling and chose not to turn to him, Karl feels like a failed parent. Karl offers Felix an apology, but Holly's not assuaged.
Karl's buoyed somewhat when Paul grudgingly admires his parenting, and Holly arrives home to find Karl ready to be there for her, however she needs. Holly rushes into his arms, insisting that the report didn't outline all the great things she loves about him and her mum.
Meanwhile, despite small thaws, the Varga-Murphys are still uncomfortable with Felix in their orbit. Cara and Remi are excited to learn Cara's fertility is looking good. When Dex overhears them talking about selling their New York trip to pay for IVF and gets the mistaken impression it's his expensive course that's straining their finances, he applies for a job at Grease Monkeys.

Nervously awaiting his interview, he can't help asking nearby Felix for advice. When the interview goes well, Dex impulsively invites Felix to a family dinner celebrating Cara's last day at uni, lying to him that it's what his mums want.
That night, JJ's delighted when Nell arrives, thanks to his mums reaching out to Toadie… but the family is shocked when Felix turns up. Dex explains he thinks they need to rip off the band aid, and JJ, Cara and Remi decide to roll with it.
The evening goes well, despite an awkward moment where JJ lets slip Cara and Remi are thinking of having another baby. At the end of the night, feeling more comfortable with Cara and Remi, Felix casually drops a bomb. If they do decide to have another baby… he'd be happy to donate his sperm.
Elsewhere, despite her overwhelming desire to spend the night drinking, Terese agrees to let Nell stay the night at hers, after dinner with JJ and his family. While she puts on a well and happy front for Nell, Paul sees her façade crack from a distance. He's concerned, and more so when Nell asks him if Terese has seemed okay to him.
Once Terese has sent Nell off to dinner, she's about to open a new bottle of wine and with immense effort stashes the bottle away, battling her demons. When Paul tries to check in with Piper, Aaron reveals she's been in Hawaii. Realisation crashes over Paul – Terese was never in Adelaide.
Nell arrives home tired and goes to bed after telling Terese how proud she is of her. It's all too much for Terese… she grabs her bottle of wine to drink in the privacy of her room, hating herself.
