Elly's deceits are getting harder to manage as Mark grows more and more excited about finally becoming a dad. A leading comment from Dipi piques Mark's curiosity about a special item that was left for him in the box of Sonya's things. Elly knows she means the ultrasound of Caitlin but, having passed it off as her own baby's picture, she now needs another 'special item' to replace it. Elly placates Mark by quickly buying a toy and passing it off as something Sonya had received as a gift for Caitlin.

With one crisis averted, Elly hopes to find some solace in her first day back at school. But her job quickly becomes complicated by a relentlessly disobedient student, Dean, who Elly takes a hardline disciplinary stance with. When Dean learns that Elly is a patient of his mum, Dr. Dora Dietrich, he sees a potential way to get something over the teacher who's making his life difficult.

While visiting his mum at work, Dean sneaks a look in her files, hoping to find something he can use over Elly… and he hits the jackpot. Elly is stunned when, back at school, Dean reveals that although he doesn't know the details, he's gleaned enough to know she's lying to her husband about her baby. And if she wants his silence, she'll need to do what he wants…

Meanwhile, after sneaking into the office for Sonya's Foundation and nearly getting busted, Finn rushes out – but runs into Bea. Bea is disturbed to find him agitated and evasive, seeing flashes of the old Finn in her supposedly-reformed housemate. Suspicious of Finn's edgy behavior, Bea confronts him about what he's been up to and an innocent Finn reveals why he has been so cagey. He broke into Toadie's office at the community centre to make a large anonymous donation.

Bea is not sure she buys the tale, but later sees Toadie's excitement at the donation and realises Finn's claim is true. Drawn to Bea, Finn begs her to keep the secret, eager to build on their bond. Bea is forced to draw the line. She'll keep this secret for Toadie's sake, but Finn needs to stop being underhanded. Furthermore, Finn needs to accept that she's devoted and loyal to Ned – there'll never be anything more between her and Finn.
