Elsewhere, a defeated Justin admits to Leah that he has bitten off more than he can chew with the band. Hoping for an escape, Justin tells her that it's probably too much responsibility. But Leah is totally on board – it's a way for Justin to connect with his music dreams. But with Leah's unwavering support, Justin's guilt surges. How can he tell Leah that he has failed already?
Desperate for some guidance, Justin picks Felicity's brain on all things band related. After giving Justin the rundown on dodgy venue operators, Justin has a lump in his throat – he definitely got played. Feigning brightness, Justin admits that he's Lyrik's new band manager. Felicity and Mackenzie are pleasantly surprised and look forward to doing business with him.
When Justin confesses his failed gig negotiation to Leah, Leah turns him around with new resolve. He just needs to call the venue back and be firm about the band's fee. When the venue refuses to take his calls, Leah takes the phone – Justin is happy to watch and learn from the master.
Elsewhere, Tane and Nikau return from court with some finality – they've been cleared of the charges. But a weight has hardly been lifted. Because their collaboration with the police must remain secret, Nikau worries that the community will always assume the worst. But Nikau is warmed by John's no-questions-asked acceptance. John is just happy to know that Nikau is free of a criminal record.
Tane has some puzzling questions for John about the gym's lease. Felicity clocks Tane's strange and wistful mood. Turning to Nikau, the two resolve to help Tane out of his downtrodden state. But when Nikau probes Tane about his headspace, Tane admits what's bothering him – he wants to sell the gym.
