Still waiting to hear from Chloe, Theo is on edge. Justin also broods over how Theo is going to juggle the demands of a touring band schedule plus his apprenticeship. Sitting Theo down for a talk, Justin puts it plainly – Theo must choose between his apprenticeship and Lyrik. Leah is defensive of Theo's musical dreams, chastising Justin.

Kirby relates to Theo's dilemma – she once had to choose between a career in medicine and music. It wasn't easy, as she loved both. A wise Kirby advises Theo not to give up on music before he has given it a real shot. Taking heed, a self-assured Theo informs Justin that he'll try to manage both his apprenticeship and the band.

Theo gets a gut-wrenching call from Chloe – she's breaking up with him. Rocking up for rehearsal, Kirby catches Theo in his heartbreak. Knowing this feeling well, Kirby encourages Theo to process his pain through songwriting. The duo set down their hearts on paper.
