Roo corners Logan as he pulls up on his jet ski. Poor Logan can't get a break from a determined Roo, but he's compassionate, knowing what a blow the test results were to the family. He agrees to talk through Roo's plan with her.
Logan lays out a health-boosting program for Martha upon her return from hospital. Martha and Roo are optimistic, but Alf is cautious about giving the family false hope. Feeling the pressure on Martha is too much, Alf snaps at Roo for ambushing her.
A defiant Martha insists they've got nothing to lose, so they should give Roo's program a go. Believing she's only doing it to please Roo, Alf is hesitant.

Meanwhile, Mia refuses Tane's proposal to look after Chloe if she wants to leave Summer Bay. However, after some time to think about it, Mia wonders if Chloe would be okay without her around. Tane assures Mia that he and Nikau would step up in her absence.
Chloe has an idea of her own, wondering if she could move out of home and into a share house. Before Chloe can properly pitch the idea to Mia, her mind is already made up. Mia is leaving the Bay. Chloe feels terrible for pushing Mia into such an extreme decision, but Mia now believes it's time for them both to get some space to heal. Chloe tearfully accepts her mother's reasoning.
Later, with the family gathered around, they present Mia with a plane ticket to New Zealand. They've spoken to Nikau's mum and confirmed she can stay there.
