Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson has opened up about the "obstacles" he has faced as a same-sex parent.
The Ste Hay actor welcomed twins with husband Carl Hyland via a surrogate in 2017, and spoke about being a parent on today's (October 16) Loose Women.
However, at one point he was asked about the negative attitudes they've encountered from some, Kieron revealing: "When you're walking down the street, if you've got a double buggy and it's twins, people are like, 'Oh, there's twins... Oh, there's two dads pushing twins... oh, there's the guy off the telly.'
"So it's a triple whammy of looks off people. People look down... not down on you. Patronising?"
Speaking further about obstacles they have faced in places such as restaurants, Kieron continued: "The facilities where you could change babies' nappies seemed to be in the women's toilets, and we would be like, 'We need to change our babies and we can't go in the women's and we don't know what to do'.
"So it was getting to the point where the waiters and waitresses would stand outside the female toilets while we're in there quickly changing."

He also recalled meeting his twins for the first time, explaining: "When we were at the hospital, the midwife was saying that the handover, which sounds awful, can't happen on the premises, it has to happen in the car park of the hospital. It's just things like that.
"Comments on social media saying, 'Those kids need a mum, it's not right'. So I feel like we're not being poster boys for it, but we're just trying to say that because we love each other, why do people think we shouldn't be parents just because we're two boys?"
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm. Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
