Emmerdale spoilers (December 31 to January 6)

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

In next week's Emmerdale, Caleb offers his help with the shooting case, but Cain is furious at his involvement. Moira takes the advice and soon the whole village knows that Kyle shot Al.

Elsewhere, Leyla is tempted by drugs again.

Here are the 13 big moments to watch out for.

1. Moira accepts Caleb's help

Even though Moira knows Cain would never speak to her again, she and Amy discuss the prospect of Caleb helping them.

Caleb is persuasive and they agree to accept his help. Caleb convinces them that the best course of action is for Kyle to admit he was protecting his dad.

2. Cain tries to attack Caleb

When Caleb arrives at the prison with Moira, Cain's furious and can't believe they're using his lawyers to help Kyle.

Cain lunges forward to attack Caleb, but a guard intervenes. Moira is left distraught at her family's situation but Caleb is resolute in his offer to help.

3. The village reacts to Kyle

With the truth revealed, Chas is chilled when she first sees Kyle but when he offers a genuine apology for killing Al, her heart breaks for him.

Amy really struggles to see how others are reacting to Kyle now, and Matty is frustrated on her behalf at their behaviour.

4. Liam visits Cain

Liam decides to visit Cain in prison, hoping that he might be able to reason with him and get him to rethink the whole situation.

But at the visit, Liam is defeated by Cain's attitude and knows he won't change his mind.

5. David struggles to sell the shop

With his finances in trouble and his loved ones ashamed of him, David proceeds with his difficult decision to sell the shop – but that's proving difficult.

Meanwhile, Jacob attempts to apologise to David after pretending Liam was his dad. But will that be enough to earn David's forgiveness?

6. Leyla hits a low point

Not only is Leyla juggling a stressful time at work, she's put under even more pressure when Liam tries to hurry along the divorce.

When she learns of the kiss Liam and Bernice shared at Christmas, Leyla argues with him and tells him to stay out of her way.

Hitting a real low, Leyla rummages through her bags in the hopes of finding a drug fix. She even takes out her phone to call her dealer, Callum, but she resists temptation, devastated it's come to this.

7. Leyla calls her dealer

The next day, Leyla is fragile and when a client pulls out, she can't stand it any longer and calls Callum.

Callum is suspicious, worried Leyla is setting a trap, but they agree to meet by the viaduct.

Leyla leaves feeling hugely conflicted and disappointed in herself.

8. Jacob catches Leyla out

Leyla's caught red handed when Jacob arrives unexpectedly at Tug Ghyll and sees her with the drugs.

Jacob's upset and shocked but he comes up with a plan.

9. Dawn misses out

As Nicky settles into life at Home Farm, Gabby is warned off by Kim, while Billy and Dawn are just happy the kids like him.

But as Lucas and Clemmie return from a fun day out with Nicky, Dawn feels like she's missing out.

10. Dawn makes a big decision

Dawn feels even worse when she misses Clemmie's swimming due to an important meeting at Home Farm and starts to wonder if all these business suits and high-powered meetings are really for her.

Dawn decides to take decisive action about her future, but what she chooses angers Kim.

11. Eric and Brenda retire

Brenda breaks the shocking news that her and Eric are retiring – which for Bob and Bernice comes at a fortuitous time when they're both feeling deflated.

Bernice's interest is sparked when Eric mentions there might be a job at the B&B available and she shows him her plans.

Later, Bernice is thrilled when Eric says the job is hers.

12. Bernice and Bob make plans

Both Bob and Bernice realise they both have exciting ideas to rejuvenate the B&B but Bernice is thwarted when Mandy demands she work her one month notice period.

Bernice plots her exit from the salon and plans to take Bob and Wendy's business away from the salon. Her actions make Mandy livid and she fires Bernice on the spot – playing right into her hands.
