Former EastEnders star Ben Hardy has admitted that even he was slightly underwhelmed by the 'Who Killed Lucy Beale?' outcome.

Speaking in a video chat with Digital Spy, the actor admitted that it was tricky for the show to match the huge level of anticipation, hype and endless fan theories which surrounded the long-running murder mystery plot. Hit play on our video below to see Hardy discussing the storyline in full.

Hardy played Peter Beale on EastEnders between 2013 and 2015.  Peter was one of the many suspects in the Lucy whodunit plot, but his half-brother Bobby was ultimately exposed as the culprit in February 2015 following a ten-month wait for answers.

"It was drawn out for over a whole year, and it's so hard to be 100% satisfied with the result of that," Hardy told us.

Hardy has since broke into Hollywood by landing the role of Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is out in cinemas on May 18.
