Drones aren't just for deliveries and causing unexpected property damage, you know. They're actually pretty good for getting bird's eye views of the sets of our favourite shows and seeing just how much is real and how much is smoke and mirrors TV magic.

One Coronation Street fan going by the name of Ben uploaded some aerial footage of the expanded Weatherfield, with handy on-screen annotations pointing out the new bits: including the Costa Coffee and Co-op.

The two chain stores are coming to the show as part of a product placement deal with ITV, with the extra locations designed to give a bit more diversity to the scenes now the show is airing six times a week.

Of course the characters won't acknowledge the sudden appearance of this new part of the area – in terms of show continuity it's always been there, it's just not where the important stuff like public breakups and murders has happened so far.

While you won't see characters actually popping into the Costa or Co-op (they aren't full buildings, just facades), the brand partnerships will extend into the real life locations too.

What we think this means is that you can expect to see a terrifying cardboard cutout of Norris next time you pop down to freezer isle to get yourself a Fab lolly.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
