Fans have been waiting for Coronation Street to dish out revenge on Pat Phelan for ages, and it looks as though tonight (February 12) marked the beginning of the end of the infamous villain.

In a twist that might just spark the downfall of Phelan, a property developer at the mill site told Pat that they would need to drain the lake in order to progress with building work.

Despite Phelan's best efforts to put the developers off draining the lake – where Andy and Vinny's bodies were disposed of, coincidentally – it looks as though one of the Cobbles' most notorious murderers is about to discover that his time is fast running out.

With the news that the lake will be emptied in a matter of weeks, fans were left rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of Phelan's comeuppance.

Ooh, you are an evil lot.

While we'll have to wait and see if the mill site ends up exposing Phelan's secret, we do at least know that Connor McIntyre and Sue Cleaver (Eileen) have started filming Pat's final scenes.

After it was rumoured that Phelan will suffer a deadly fall from a cliff while on holiday with Eileen in a few weeks' time, recent paparazzi pictures have only added fuel to the fire...
