Coronation Street has confirmed that a major storyline has been delayed due to the soap scrapping location filming.
As the show returns to production amid the coronavirus pandemic, one of the new measures in place will be avoiding location filming.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, producer Iain MacLeod was asked whether they had to change or scrap storylines as a result.

"A couple of stories featured cast no longer available to us," he said. "We have pressed pause on those, but hope to resume those when those people are safe to return to work.
"We had one particular story which would have climaxed during the Britain's Got Talent finals week like we normally do – that proved not to be possible. Rather than having to do a half cooked version, we decided to push it to later in the year, rather than a compromised version."

The scrapped storyline will not be Gary Windass' dark secret over loan shark Rick Neelan, however, which will continue straight away on set rather than on location.

MacLeod continued: "In a few other instances, the changes have been to lose locations but the story architecture is the same. The pandemic hasn't driven a coach of horses through our storylines. We worried everything would be decimated when we sat down at first, but the vast majority of things can still be made to work."
He also clarified that "all location filming is suspended indefinitely", explaining: "Essentially, we know the measures we put in place are enforceable and safe. We have it all nailed down here [in the studios] where we feel we have minimised risk. It's much better to keep things here to make sure everyone is safe."
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
