Coronation Street star Colson Smith has opened up about how he is keeping fit in lockdown amid his character's weight loss storyline.
Colson appeared on today's (April 17) Good Morning Britain to talk about the current limited circumstances, explaining his new routine for exercise while stuck at home.
"When you go up and suggest a storyline where your character has a bit of a transformation, the one thing in the back of my head is, 'Oh, I've got to do that as well'," he told host Lorraine Kelly.
"So while we're not seeing the street at the moment, I've kind of kept Craig Tinker's fitness journey on behind closed doors, so when we're back we're ready to see what Craig's been up to."
He elaborated: "It's all about keeping motivated, doing the right thing, trying to achieve something every day – that's kind of what I've said to myself. Making sure no day goes as a waste."
When Lorraine asked whether he had a home gym, Colson admitted: "I wish I had a gym! I'm quite lucky in a way of when I prepared for this storyline, I kind of said to myself that I'll make it as easy as I can for myself.

"So I sat down with Rob Brennan, who's the life coach, and we worked through everything I could do to make it as easy as possible. So I have my breakfast and lunches delivered, and they're still being delivered now, which means cooking I don't have to think about, I can just eat.
"And in terms of the gym, I've kind of kept in touch with the gym I've been going to in Manchester because they're putting on lots of training programmes on their app. I've done the odd Joe Wicks PE, and then it's just making the most out of the situation.
"I've been in the garden, I was doing a circuit the other day and I started getting chased by a wasp! It's just making the most of the situation."
During the interview, Colson also spoke about the possibility that Coronation Street could incorporate the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation into future storylines.
"It will be interesting, I think we're all really looking forward to when we get the nod to going back, reading the scripts and how we show the guidelines on social distancing, how we show what we missed," he continued.
"It's an exciting time, we've got a great team of writers so I'm sure they're all working away at the moment to make sure that when we come back we've got everything right and we're ready."
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
