Coronation Street star Andrew Whyment has opened up about the possibility of the soap going off air amid the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
The ITV soap stopped filming last month, and has also cut down its weekly episodes to three in order to stay on air for as long as possible.
Speaking on the United Podcast, however, Andy admitted that they may have until the beginning of July before they run out of episodes to broadcast.
"I think we've got until the beginning of July in the can," he said. "So we need to get back hopefully by the middle of June with a bit of luck, otherwise it's going to go off air.
"We've cut down from six episodes a week to three episodes a week, obviously to stay, but hopefully we'll get back.
"A lot of the airlines have announced they're going to start flying again mid-June, so I'm presuming if that's going to happen then hopefully we should be able to get back to work with a bit of luck, so fingers crossed."

Meanwhile, Corrie producer Lindsay Williams has assured fans that the soap will keep many of this year's storylines despite the production shutdown.
"We are currently looking at the best way to start filming again whenever lockdown is lifted and luckily been able to keep so many of the brilliant stories we were planning to play over this year, so we're really excited about what’s to come," she said last week in an entry on the Coronation Street Blog.
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
