Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has brought some much-needed hilarity and festive cheer to the internet this Easter weekend with a treat of a take on a classic scene from Love Actually.

Amusing himself while filming for Corrie is suspended, Jack (who plays David Platt) has re-enacted the hilarious (and legendary) dance moves of Hugh Grant's Prime Minister as he shimmies around 10 Downing Street to Jump (For My Love) by the Pointer Sisters. Which really is the perfect tonic, and just what we needed right now.

"Wanted to recreate the #LoveActually dance by Hugh Grant, a film we covered on the @SofaCinemaClub," he tweeted, referring to his movie podcast that he runs with fellow Corrie actors Colson Smith and Ben Price.

With a sweet reference to the hard work of the UK's health service, as well as the heart-warming opening of Love Actually, he goes on to say: "I’m dedicating this to the NHS who have shown that Love actually is everywhere & Boris Johnson have a speedy recovery and get back in No. 10 #MyMovieChallenge."

He totally nailed all the different elements of the dance, from the sideways shimmy (carried out in the kitchen of his Manchester home) to the euphoric sashay down the stairs of one of the most famous houses in the world (this time down his, admittedly less grand, staircase).

His girlfriend Hanni Treweek even contributed to the remake, appearing unannounced dressed as his assistant – discovering his over-the-top dancing firsthand.

Friends and co-stars have commented on Jack's post to support him and praise his work, as well as Hanni's cameo. Helen Flanagan (who played Rosie Webster on the show from 2000 until 2012) commented: "OMG I LOVE this you two are goals."

Another fan has called it "the best thing to come out of lockdown", and another requested he recreate a scene as Bruce Willis's John McClane from Die Hard next. Why not take on another one of the greats, Jack?

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
