Coronation Street star Andrew Whyment has revealed that some of the soap's scripts have been rewritten due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The actor, who plays Kirk Sutherland on the ITV show, took to Instagram on Saturday (March 21) to open up about a "tough" week of filming.
Alongside an image of himself and his wife Nichola enjoying a relaxing beer, he wrote: "So ready for a drink tonight been a tough week at work with rewrites and changes with some cast members having to self isolate."
He continued: "I just want to say I'm so proud of everyone @coronationstreet. The way people have mucked in this week has been incredible and shows how much love there is for the show.
"It’s a mad situation we all find ourselves in but we’ll get through this. Stay safe everyone."
Earlier today (March 22), ITV announced that it was suspending filming on both Coronation Street and Emmerdale due to the coronavirus crisis.

This comes shortly after the announcement that both ITV and the BBC would be reducing their weekly episode output, to keep Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders on air for as long as possible in the coming weeks and months.

Coronation Street will air with a reduced schedule (from March 30) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
