Amy Schumer made headlines back in April after falling at the feet of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West during a red carpet appearance.

The comedian - whose antics managed to raise a smile from the reality star, but left the 'All Day' rapper looking less than amused - finally explained why she took the dramatic dive during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show that airs tonight (June 5).

"I was invited (to the gala) as one of the TIME 100 Most Influential People even though no one here has heard of me!" said Schumer.

"I was on the red carpet doing interviews and the journalists were looking past me to see if someone more important was behind me.

"So all the reporters went crazy for Kim and Kanye and I've always thought falling over is the funniest thing, so I took a dive in front of them.

"I couldn't help myself," she added. "They didn't crack a smile which confirms they had no idea who I was, which is a relief!"

Schumer also dominated coverage of the more recent Glamour Women of the Year Awards, where she was named Trailblazer of the Year.

Her candid acceptance speech had fellow guests roaring with laughter, and included the defiant one liner: "I'm probably like 160 pounds right now, and I can catch a d**k whenever I want."

Schumer can next be seen in Judd Apatow-directed comedy Trainwreck, for which she also wrote the script.

The Graham Norton Show, with other guests including Samuel L Jackson, Stephen Merchant and Muse, airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
