Vanilla Ice, now known for his home improvement show on the DIY network, had been in Dubai for a public speaking event, according to Quon. He's since left New York City and returned home. While he was still on the plane, he shared an Instagram video calling the situation "crazy."
"So I just landed in New York coming back from Dubai," he captioned the clip. "And now I'm stuck on the runway with like 1,000 police, ambulances, fire trucks, this is crazy."
The flight, an Airbus A380 arriving from Dubai, had more than 500 passengers on board, per CBS. The Emirates flight arrived at 9.10am local time and was immediately swarmed by police and quarantined for an assessment by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said 100 of the 520 people aboard the plane were being evaluated after complaining of illness, including cough and fever. A spokesman for Mayor Bill de Blasio said 10 people were hospitalised and another eight were being treated at the airport, according to the publication.
A representative for the airline released a statement to People Magazine stating: "Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill. On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities, and those needing medical attention will be attended to.
"All other passengers will be disembarking shortly. The safety and care of our customers is always our first priority and will not be compromised."
