Pop star Liam Payne has hit back at claims that he's to blame for One Direction fans getting confused about the band's potential reunion.

Ever since the iconic boyband's split several years ago – with each member going separate ways and following their own creative path – their global fanbase has been yearning for updates and any crumbs of news regarding their future.

Liam himself has added fuel to the fire of reunion rumours, but it looks like he's now had enough of the grief he gets online from some impatient fans of the band.

Responding to one Twitter user's post about his alleged indecisiveness, Liam wrote: "Can people stop passing blame to me about this I get asked this ridiculous question 500x a day (exaggeration)... so I just say whatever guess I have at the time... but still this band has 3 other members you want the answer ask them."

Well as it happens, the other bandmates have been queried on the subject before, with Zayn Malik previously dashing the hopes of millions.

Zayn admitted that he "ain't spoke to any of them for a long time" just last November.

The likeliness of One Direction's eventual reformation has also been questioned by radio DJ Nick Grimshaw, who once pondered: "When we started this show they were all together as a five piece. Do you think they'll ever get back together?

"No, not a chance. It's not happening, is it?"
