Nick Grimshaw led music fans at Radio 1's Big Weekend in a minute's silence earlier today (May 27) for the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.
At the first day of the event in Hull, the Breakfast Show host took to the stage around 3pm, before marking the minute with the crowd before encourage them to "defiantly" make some noise for the city afterwards.
"Like you guys, all of us at Radio 1 have been thinking about Manchester all week, and we've been completely heartbroken," he said. "And we thought it would be nice if we could take a minute's silence for everyone who lost their lives in Manchester on Monday."
Speaking to Metro.co.uk later, Grimshaw explained why he thought it was important the Big Weekend event went on, despite what had happened.
"It was really important that this event happened because you can't live in fear. As horrible as it is and as sad as it is, you have to carry on," he said.
"You have to find strength and it's scary, but the only way to fight it is to carry on."

The terrorist attack on Monday (May 22) left 22 people dead and dozens injured after an explosion at Manchester Arena.
The attack followed an Ariana Grande concert, and the singer herself has vowed to return to the city to perform a concert "in honor of and to raise money for the victims and their families".
A number of artists that are performing at Big Weekend have given their own tributes to the victims of the atrocity too, with Imagine Dragons and Zara Larsson among those taking the time during their set to pay tribute to the victims.
Katy Perry, who headlines the event tonight, said at an intimate gig in London this week: "It was hard for you guys, I know that. It was hard for me, because we all love music. We're all listening to the same music.
"And you think about it and you think, 'That's my friend, that's my sister, that's my brother, that's my cousin, that's the person that loves music.' It's awful, it's awful. It's awful."
She added: "And whatever you can do to help, you should. If you can't do anything, that's fine. But what you should do is not let them win... They can never take that part away from us ever. Ever."
Other performers paying tribute after the attack included Lorde and Emeli SandΓ©, among many, many others:
