First Reading & Leeds 2015 announcement due

Reading and Leeds Festival organisers have teased fans with a cryptic tweet suggesting that the first line-up announcement for this year's festival is due tonight (November 25).

The official Twitter account for the festival tweeted an image of a countdown last night, with "BBC Radio 1, 7PM" written underneath.

It is expected that the much-anticipated first headliner will be announced on the station.

Festival organiser Melvin Benn revealed in August that the first headline act had already been booked, saying at the time: "There's one booked. We're just waiting for them to decide which nights they want to play Reading and which night they want to play Leeds. One's done, the other two will follow."

He added that it may be an act which festival fans were not expecting, saying: "It's definitely not a Reading regular. It's not who you think it might be."

The festival also placed a second batch of tickets on sale this morning, 10 hours ahead of the announcement.

Last year's festival was headlined by Queens of the Stone Age, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182.
