Another New Music Friday, another clutch of eclectic tracks you should get your lugholes round. This week we have Bruno Mars's long-awaited return, John Legend's latest heart-rending ballad and Lady Gaga's country-inspired singalong.

1. BRUNO MARS: '24K Magic'

Oh here he is. After waiting longer than anyone really wanted to, Bruno Mars is back with yet more slick grooves. This time he's styling out the '80s with this electronic/hip-hop bounce which shines brighter than his 24-carat gold chain. Be prepared to dance to this from now until New Year's Eve.

2. JOHN LEGEND: 'Love Me Now'

The American singer-songwriter knows his way around a chart-topping love song - and his latest serenade is no different. 'Love Me Now' starts as a stirring ballad, before it bops along with flourishes of buoyant beats. We smell another hit.

3. LADY GAGA: 'Million Reasons'

What to Read Next

After rocking things up with latest single 'Perfect Illusion', Mother Monster takes things down a notch on country music ballad 'Million Reasons'. It's a suitably impassioned affair which hears Gaga get back to her songwriter sensibilities. New album Joanne is shaping up to be a return to form.

4. OLLY MURS: 'Grow Up'

Yikes. Olly Murs's ex-girlfriend would do well to look away right about now. The singer takes aim on his new single 'Grow Up', which on the surface is a lovely swaying piece of guitar-led pop, but the lyrics have a bit more, well, bite. "How did we go straight from love to hate? / Now it's so deep that we can't be mates," Olly admits. Something tells us we're way past the heartache stage at this point.

5. MØ: 'Drum'

MØ has teamed up with Charli XCX and the result is as amazing as you'd expect from such a team-up. Charli helped pen 'Drum' and it's got all the huge choruses and soaring synth pop that's made her a modern chart darling. "It's about letting go in order to pursue your dreams, for better or worse," says MØ.

6. THE KILLERS: 'Peace Of Mind'

While everybody's twiddling their thumbs waiting for The Killers to make their mind up about whether or not they want to make a new album, the band have slipped out a new old song. As part of their reissue of Sam's Town, they've debuted the previously unheard demo 'Peace Of Mind' and Brandon Flowers is in a reflective mood, musing: "Everything we know is purpose, there's no need to stay in chains".

7. YOU ME AT SIX: 'Plus One'

You Me At Six managed to snag their first number one album with Cavalier Youth a couple of years ago, and their upcoming record Night People could do it again. The band are playing some super tiny shows next month for Dr Martens' Stand For Something Tour and new song 'Plus One' is just the kind of track guaranteed to tear the place up.

8. JAMES ARTHUR: 'Sermon'

It's fair to say there was a point when there seemed to be no coming back for James Arthur. But on Friday the former X Factor winner topped the charts for the first time since he won the show back in 2012 and he's re-signed with Simon Cowell's label. Continuing his comeback, Arthur's debuted another new song 'Sermon' and this time he's teamed up with rapper Shotty Horroh.

9. BASIC TAPE: 'So Good'

Who doesn't like a good slab of uplifting pop? Parisian duo Basic Tape deliver just that on their vibrant new single 'So Good', which is as colourful as its accompanying artwork. Mixing throwback '70s disco with contemporary house lines, it's a feel-good tour de force.

10. GARRETH MAHER: 'Ride On Time'

Black Box's 'Ride On Time' was the biggest-selling single of 1989. Obviously, because it is amazing. If you feel like it's been missing from clubs for the last two decades or so, your prayers have been answered. Dublin DJ Garreth Maher has reworked the track into a house banger and breathed some new life into it.
