IT currently holds the title for the third best launch weekend of 2017 so far behind Beauty and the Beast and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

The Dylan O'Brien-starring American Assassin has debuted at number two taking 14.8 million against a $33 million budget, and keeping Darren Aronofsky's mother! at bay.

The weird horror which stars Jennifer Lawrence in the titular role, has failed to set the box office alight, taking just $7.5 million in its opening weekend of frightening people.

IT and American Assassin were both awarded a B+ by them.
