Two stars of horror projects American Horror Story and It are teaming up for the long-in-development movie adaptation of indie comic The Crow.

Danny Huston, who appeared in two series of American Horror Story, has joined the cast of the movie, which also includes FKA twigs and It actor Bill Skarsgård. Skarsgård played Pennywise the Clown in both It movies, based on Stephen King's novel.

Huston played the Axeman in American Horror Story: Coven, the third season of the FX show. He returned for the fourth season, Freak Show, to play Massimo Dolcefino — the prosthetist who makes Elsa Mars' (Jessica Lange) legs following her amputation. In both seasons, Huston's characters were love interests to Lange's characters.

Huston also appeared in Wonder Woman and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in which he played Major Stryker, the man responsible for giving Wolverine his adamantium skeleton. Skarsgård, meanwhile, provided the voice of the Deviant Kro in the MCU's Eternals.

The Crow is a dark thriller based on James O'Barr's comic, written in the 1980s. The story follows a man and his fiancée who are murdered by a gang following their car breaking down. The man is then resurrected by a crow and seeks revenge on the gang.

The casting comes four years on from Jason Momoa and director Corin Hardy's failed attempt at reviving the cult classic movie – the late Brandon Lee played Eric Draven in 1994's original.

Skarsgård will play Draven, as well as the crow. FKA twigs will play his fiancée, while Huston's role is not yet confirmed. The adaptation will be directed by Rupert Sanders, who previously directed Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell. The script is written by Zach Baylin, who earlier this year earned an Oscar nomination for his screenplay for King Richard.
