The Mummy's final trailer has landed ahead of its release next month.

And it seems that Tom Cruise not only has to fight off an ancient evil, but also Princess Ahmanet's (Sofia Boutella) army of what basically look like zombies.

Most of the footage has been seen in previous trailers, such as Cruise's Nick Morton waking up in a body bag in a morgue after a fiery plane crash, but a new piece of info is that his 'death' has made him become something other-worldly.

"It takes a monster to defeat a monster," Russell Crowe's Dr Jekyll tells Annabelle Wallis's Jenny Halsey, who seems suspicious of Nick's miraculous escape from the plane.

Although not suspicious enough to stop her trying to defeat Ahmanet with him, telling him to "kick her arse" in a very British way.

The trailer also makes a reference to the fact that Universal are hoping that this Mummy reboot will lead to a shared Monsters Universe (a bit like Marvel's, only much creepier), which director Alex Kurtzman has previously spoken about.

What to Read Next

"The movie's called The Mummy, not The Mummy Meets 12 Other Monsters. If we create a world that feels interesting and scary, then we will have succeeded in setting up the larger universe," he explained.

See if they did succeed when The Mummy hits cinemas on June 9.
