Marvel has released the first trailer for Thunderbolts* (yes, that asterisk is meant to be there), starring Florence Pugh and David Harbour.
The upcoming MCU blockbuster brings together a team of anti-heroes and outright villains for a Suicide Squad-like mission mandated by government agent Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)
The footage opens with a Black Widow reunion for Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian (Stranger Things' David Harbour) when surrogate daughter Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) turns up unexpectedly on his doorstep.
"There is something wrong with me," she explains. "An emptiness. I'm just drifting and I don't have purpose."

The trailer cuts to other Marvel antiheroes – US Agent (Wyatt Russell) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) – seemingly struggling in their own lives before they are all brought together on an assignment.
What to Read Next
The various heroes initially fight with one another before they discover they've been purposefully marked for death. "Someone wants us gone," Yelena realises.
Valentina gathers The Thunderbolts together to warn them that "there are bad guys and there are worse guys" in the world.
The trailer ends with Bucky blowing up a car with Yelena and co in it, but is he against them or on their side? We have until May 2025 to speculate on that.

This first look at Thunderbolts* leaves out who exactly is after the team, though there have been rumours that Harrison Ford's now-President Thunderbolt Ross will feature in the movie.
Ford will debut in the role in Captain America: Brave New World, where his character will transform into the Red Hulk to battle Cap and his allies.
Paper Towns filmmaker Jake Schreier has directed Marvel's Thunderbolts*, based on a script by Eric Pearson (Black Widow), Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear).
Thunderbolts* is released in cinemas on May 2, 2025.
