The first trailer for Christmas horror movie A Creature Was Stirring is here.
This Is Us' Chrissy Metz stars as Faith, an overprotective mother and nurse who keeps her teenage daughter (played by Snowpiercer's Annalise Basso) locked away and kept on a strict regime of pills in order to "ward off a terrifying affliction" by keeping her sedated.
However, their terrible family secret is at risk of being exposed over Christmas after two strangers (played by Halloween's Scout Taylor-Compton and Gossip Girl's Connor Paolo) break into their house, realising that this mother-daughter relationship stretches "the limits of both dysfunction and reality".

In the eerie trailer, the 'strangers' meet Faith and her daughter, who is described as being prone to "psychotic episodes", while a malevolent entity also appears to be haunting the house.
"Something's wrong here," Taylor-Compton's character says as the presence stalks her from in the fireplace.
Elsewhere, we see Faith sedating her daughter with a mixture of medication while the creature continues to get closer to the house's inhabitants.
"Whatever's happening in this house, you cannot pray it away," Paolo's character warns as a bloodied Faith is seen carrying a baseball bat filled with nails and later defending her actions as a mother.

Damien LeVeck has directed the film for Well Go USA Entertainment, with newcomer Shannon Wells having written the script.
"For genre fans, this film has it all: a spectacular practical monster, unexpected twists and turns, and the phenomenal talent of Chrissy Metz in a kind of performance no one has ever seen from her before," LeVeck said in a statement about the film.
"All of these elements are further amplified by the incredible abilities of Annalise, Scout and Connor, who are already much beloved mainstays of the horror community."
A Creature Was Stirring premieres in US theatres on December 8 and digitally on December 12. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
