The latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is bound to get your heart racing with its epic space battle between the Resistance and the First Order.

Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are a new generation of intergalactic heroes tasked with battling the evil knight known as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

Director JJ Abrams's space opera takes place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, as the brutal First Order re-arm in the ashes of the Empire.

It's up to three young warriors – and a few familiar faces like Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) – to fight for the survival of the galaxy.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has its world premiere in Hollywood, ahead of its cinematic release in the UK on December 17 and the US on December 18.
