The BAFTA Fellowship was presented by Prince William, whose grandmother Queen Elizabeth II was portrayed by Mirren in the BAFTA-winning 2006 movie The Queen.
The Duke of Cambridge made a cheeky reference to Mirren's work in The Queen during his address.
"An actress, I should probably call [you] Granny," he joked.

Mirren went on to use her speech to pay tribute to her marriage to filmmaker Taylor Hackford, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
"Thank you so much. I just want to quickly blow a kiss to my husband who can't be here tonight and he's such a good supporter," she said.

She also paid tribute to all of her former co-stars, saying: "I thank you all, all of you in my past."
The iconic actress said prior to the ceremony that she took the Duke of Cambridge's involvement this evening as validation that the royal family approved of The Queen.
"I think it feels pretty amazing actually, because I don't think he'd do it if the royal family felt I had messed up," Mirren joked.
"So I hope it's a sign they don't think I messed up. But I don't know, and I will never know for sure."
