Benedict Cumberbatch is a man of many guises. Since his meteoric rise in recent years, he is an actor that no one would dare accuse of being typecast, and in every new role he proves that there is nothing he can't do.

With Penguins of Madagascar recently arriving in Sky Store, we celebrate the many faces of Benedict Cumberbatch:

In Penguins of Madagascar, Cumberbatch gets a chance to show off his beastly side. We're not talking about him looking like an otter (not this time), but his role as Classified in the animated sequel.

He voices the grey wolf leader of the animal spy agency North Wind, who take in the four intrepid penguins when they find themselves lost on the streets and waterways of Venice.

The mythical monster (Smaug - The Hobbit trilogy)

An ancient and powerful dragon demands an air of gravitas, especially if you're committed to not upsetting it. So who better to provide the voice of The Hobbit trilogy's archvillain Smaug than the suave Cumberbatch?

Smaug is the terror of the Lonely Mountain, blocking the way between the dwarves and their ancestral horde with his huge, scaled bulk. But Martin Freeman's Bilbo discovers that he's as much a conversationalist and manipulator as he is an unstoppable force of nature.

The tragic genius (Alan Turing - The Imitation Game)

The story of the British maths genius and computing pioneer - who helped break the infamous Enigma Code in World War II - is a tragic and historically significant one.

Cumberbatch brings the gravity that is essential to playing Alan Turing, a gay man whose heroic status was not enough to protect him from persecution by the people he served.

The evil wizard (The Necromancer - The Hobbit trilogy)

You might have thought we were done with Middle-earth, but Smaug isn't the only character brought to life by Cumberbatch in JRR Tolkien's world.

He also portrayed the mysterious and evil Necromancer, a figure who has a surprising and important role to play in the future of the fantasy world.

The spy (Peter Guillam - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)

Cumberbatch showed off his acting chops in this much-loved and quintessentially British spy thriller as secret agent Peter Guillam.

He appears alongside an equally brilliant all-star cast as one of the many agents of a spy organisation called 'The Circus', caught up in a plot to uncover the double agent within their midst.

KHAAAAAAAAAAN! (John Harrison/Khan - Star Trek Into Darkness)

Cumberbatch gave a chilling, supremely self-controlled take on the iconic Star Trek villain in JJ Abrams' sequel.

As soon as we heard that name, we knew there would be trouble.

Penguins of Madagascar, The Hobbit trilogy, The Imitation Game, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Star Trek Into Darkness are all available in Sky Store right now.
