Netflix movie Okja has been booed at the Cannes Film Festival after its first press screening had to be stopped 10 minutes in.
Of course, it's not the first movie ever to be booed at Cannes, some might even say it's a badge of honour, but this reaction had an added edge after the festival announced last week that Netflix movies will be banned from Competition in future years.
The Netflix logo ahead of Okja was met with a mix of boos and cheers from the audience, and then the annoyed reaction came from the movie being projected in the wrong aspect ratio.
It was stopped and restarted without explanation, but the festival has since apologised for the technical error.
"This incident was entirely the responsibility of the Festival's technical service, which offers its apologies to the director and his team, to the producers and the audience," they said in a statement.
Despite the shaky start, Okja was widely praised by critics on Twitter following its screening.
What to Read Next
Okja hits Netflix on June 28 and centres around a young girl who risks everything to stop a powerful company from kidnapping her best friend – who just happens to be a massive animal named Okja.
It's not the only instance of streaming service-related booing at this year's Cannes after the Amazon logo was booed before Wonderstruck, starring Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams.
Expect some more pointless booing when Netflix's The Meyerowitz Stories screens later in the festival.
