Ocean's Eight has got us mightily excited with its all-star, all-female cast, including Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter and more.

The film will see Sandra Bullock play Debbie Ocean (the estranged sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean), who assembles a team to pull of a daring heist at the New York Met gala.

It's not out until June, and we haven't seen too much in terms of marketing yet, but Entertainment Weekly has posted a first look picture and an interview with Bullock to get the ball rolling:

Although Bullock didn't reveal too much about her character or the plot ("I feel like we're a Marvel film and we're trying to at least let there be some surprises"), she did say Debbie has been incarcerated for five years and we'll find out why, but that's not the main plot.

She also says that although all the women have archetypes and defined roles in the heist, there will be more to each character than just being a criminal.

Speaking about the backlash against last year's all-female Ghostbusters reboot, Bullock said: "I'm still trying to figure out why.

What to Read Next

"Forget what the final product was! There were four or five of the most talented comediennes in that film. Everyone should've just taken a breath and said, 'let's see what happens.'

"It doesn't take just five people to make a movie. It's pretty much like around 300. So I keep reminding everybody, if you hate my film remember there's another 299 people all around me."

When asked about the possibility of a sequel, Bullock joked that we should see how well the first one does first, since she's been in some pretty rubbish (*cough* Speed 2: Cruise Control *cough*) sequels in her time.
