Marvel Studios has had some problems with representation lately, but at least we can forget one unfortunate rumour surrounding Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Director Jon Watts has denied the reports that distinctly non-Asian actor Michael Barbieri had been cast in a role 'based on' the Korean character Ganke Lee.
The unfortunate rumour emerged after the recent controversy surrounding the casting of Tilda Swinton as Doctor Strange's Ancient One - a character traditionally portrayed as a Tibetan man.
Community star Donald Glover - a fan favourite to play Spider-Man himself - was recently announced to be joining Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the movie.
Robert Downey Jr, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei and Kenneth Choi will also feature in the movie.
Barbieri is also in line to appear in the adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
