Idris Elba has won more support in the debate over who will take over the Bond role after Daniel Craig and, this time, it's a former 007 star who's backing the actor.

George Lazenby, who played the role in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service has said that casting Elba in the role would be a good idea.

The Guardian reported that when asked whether a black actor could play Bond the Australian actor said: "I mean, why not? That's what I say."

However the 76-year-old went on to add: "On the other hand, you're going to have a lot of people scratching their head going: 'James Bond wasn't black'."

Probably like when agent M switched genders for a little bit.

Tom Hiddleston, James Norton and Tom Hardy have all been touted as possible replacements, with Elba recently saying that if he is made the next Bond then it will be down to the vocal public and the "will of the nation".

Well, at least Lazenby makes one more for Team Elba as Craig's successor.
