Dwayne Johnson has given us a peek behind the scenes of the Baywatch production.

The cast gathered for a readthrough ahead of shooting starting on the anticipated big screen adaptation today (February 22).

"Like a proud papa silverback, just look at this talented cool/hot #Baywatch cast," Johnson wrote.

"This squad has been working extremely hard for months for these roles - the time has come," he continued. "Let's roll and bring the world some beach fun."

Johnson also took the opportunity to have a little dig at himself as "some tatted up, bald brown man with a large head".

Directed by Horrible Bosses' Seth Gordon, Baywatch also stars Zac Efron, Johnson's San Andreas co-star Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Ilfenesh Hadera and Jon Bass.

What to Read Next

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Sports Illustrated swimsuit-model-turned-actress Kelly Rohrbach would play CJ, the lifeguard made famous by Pamela Anderson in the '90s.

Anderson herself hasn't been quiet in her disapproval of the reboot, stating last year that "no-one appreciates remakes".

Baywatch hasn't yet got an official release date, but is expected sometime in 2017.
