Richard Osman has given fans an exciting update on his new Thursday Murder Club book.

The author and former Pointless presenter unveiled the fifth entry in the series, The Impossible Fortune, last month, with the novel due in September.

Osman has now revealed he is "delighted" to unveil the book's cover, sharing an animated Instagram clip showing the design, which once again features the now-iconic fox that has adorned the previous entries.

"Delighted to reveal the front cover of the new Thursday Murder Club novel, #TheImpossibleFortune," the writer said in the comments. "This time with a brand-new baby fox! Out this September in the U.K. and the US! Pre-order links in bio!"

Fans and friends shared their own delight in the comments, with The One Show and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne writing: "I NEED MORE RON ASAP."

"Absolutely can not wait!! Gorgeous cover," another follower wrote, while a third said: "I am BEYOND excited for the gang to be back together again."

Osman previously promised a "fun" entry into the murder-mystery series, complete with "a wedding, an uncrackable code, and a fortune more unusual than you can imagine". He also teased that the story is themed around the ideas of "luck and chance and what life throws at you".

The author further revealed that he nearly named the book Fortune's Always Hiding from the West Ham song 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles', though decided to change it when the publishers scratched their heads at the reference.

"I wanted to call it that and no-one understood it, and I was thinking Impossible Heist, and I put the two together and got Impossible Fortune, which does everything it needs to do for me," he told The Rest Is Entertainment.

It's set to be a busy year in the Thursday Murder Club-verse as alongside the new entry, a new Netflix adaptation of the first book is on the way featuring Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley as the central retiree sleuths.

The Impossible Fortune is published on September 25.
